My Philosophy Is Informed by Developmental Trauma Treatments

I use a number of primary approaches in sessions with clients, with a non-pathologizing, warm, spacious, nonjudgmental outlook that is nervous system-aware and trauma-specific. I am a certified Brainspotting therapist. I usually combine this with EMDR, IFS-informed parts approaches, with additional use of Jungian dream tending, Sandplay and Gestalt, intuitive art therapy, KAP and ancestral healing-based therapy. I’m happy to provide services to people in person or via telehealth in California and Texas via Telehealth at this time.

I resonate with David Grand’s Neuroexperiential Process (NEP) for Healing and Expansion, a therapeutic framework that integrates neuroscience with experiential practices. “The core idea is that healing and personal growth stem from engaging the brain’s natural processes through experiential techniques.

Key components of NEP include:

  1. Neuroscience Foundations: Understanding how the brain processes trauma and experiences, emphasizing neuroplasticity—the brain’s ability to reorganize itself.
  2. Experiential Engagement: Utilizing body-oriented therapies and mindfulness practices to help individuals reconnect with their bodily sensations and emotions.
  3. Integration of Experiences: Facilitating the integration of past experiences to create new, healthier neural pathways, enabling individuals to move beyond trauma and limiting beliefs.
  4. Mind-Body Connection: Recognizing the importance of the connection between mental and physical states in achieving healing.
  5. Holistic Approach: Fostering an environment that promotes emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being, emphasizing the individual’s unique journey.

Overall, NEP aims to empower individuals by helping them tap into their innate healing capacities through a deeper understanding of their neurological processes and experiences.” – NEP by DG
